South African Cricketers in PSL 2022

South Africa Players in Lahore Qalandars

David Wiese is the prominent name amongst the South African players in PSL 2022. The South-African-born Namibian all-rounder has won many games for the Qalandars. The fans love Wiese immensely when he smashed Karachi King’s Mohammad Amir all over the park in Lahore’s epic win against Karachi in 2021.

David Wiese had a good run in the recently concluded T10 League, where he fired with the bat. David Wiese played just 4 games last year for Lahore Qalandars, but had a strike rate of 244 and hence was retained in the platinum category by Lahore Qalandars.

Another South African player in PSL Dean Foxcroft will represent LQ in PSL 2021 as an overseas player. Born in South Africa, Dean has played his domestic cricket in New Zealand. The youngster has played 18 T20s so far but has an average of 41 and a strike rate of 129. It would be interesting to see how well he does for Lahore Qalandars.

South African Players in Multan Sultans

The defending champions retained both of their South African stars from last year Rilee Rossouw & Imran Tahir. Rossouw was retained in Platinum Category while Imran Tahir was retained in the Diamond category.

Rilee Rossouw managed just 171 runs last year for Multan Sultans at an ordinary average of 19. However, he had a strike rate of 158. One Major Reason behind Rilee’s retention was his brilliant run in CSA Provincial T20 Cup. Rossouw scored 295 runs in 5 games of the event and was the highest run-getter of the tournament.

Imran Tahir just keeps getting better with age. Last year he picked 13 wickets at an average of just 13 for Multan Sultans. He ended Lanka Premier League 2021 with 15 wickets at an average of 14 and was the tournament’s second-best bowler. Multan Sultans will heavily rely on Imran Tahir this year in the spin department as they have released both Shahid Afridi and Usman Qadir.

South Africa Cricketer in Islamabad United

Islamabad United picked veteran South African pacer, Merchant de Lange in the Diamond Category of the draft. In 125 T20 games throughout his career, he has picked 142 wickets at an average of 24 and an economy rate of 8.6. He featured in the LPL as well as T10 League recently, but he did nothing extra-ordinary.
