After their historic PSL 2021 win, the Multan Sultans aim to reclaim their throne in 2024. Multan Sultans in 2024 possess a squad brimming with power, experience, and versatility. 

Their batting lineup promises fireworks, all-rounders offer flexibility, and the bowling attack boasts both pace and spin options. The Sultans’ success will depend on their ability to execute their plans effectively, handle pressure situations well, and capitalize on their strengths.

Multan Sultan Batting

Captain Mohammad Rizwan will be the cornerstone of the batting, boasting a T20 strike rate of 129.36. His calm approach and consistent run-scoring are crucial. Usman Khan at the top of the order along with South African Reeza Hendricks will play the role of an aggressor to put pressure on the opposition.

Dawid Malan from England who was once the number 1 T20 batter in the world will play the role of accumulator in middle overs. Whereas West Indian Johnson Charles who was bought in the replacement draft will provide power hitting at the end along with Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah.

MS All-Rounders

England’s David Willey is the only genuine all-rounder in the side. After retiring from international cricket he will be fully available for PSL 9. 279 wickets and 3700+ runs in 280 games make him a must-have talent in any t20 league. 

Khushdil Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed are the two batting all-rounders who will be in the side for their batting but can roll their arm over and complete the full quota of overs. the left-hander with a strike rate of 144.27 and useful left-arm spin (economy 7.93). His all-around contributions offer valuable flexibility.

MS Bowling 

Abbas Afridi, Shahnawaz Dhani, and Ihsanullah (if fully fit) will lead the bowling attack of Multan Sultan. Both Abbass and Dhani possess almost identical T20 records with 54 and 68 wickets at an average of 20 & 22 respectively.

Ihsanullah has been mainly out of action since last PSL which was his breakthrough season. He later on represented Pakistan in a few games but out of cricket since then and will be handled with care this season.

England pace duo of Topley and Jordan will add experience to the bowling attack of Multan in the PSL 2024 edition. Topley has 200 T20 wickets and will be handy with his variations whereas Jordan can help with deadly yorkers at the end and already has 362 wickets in T20 leagues.

Usama Mir and Faisal Akram are the two spin options. Usama has been playing in leagues and represented Pakistan in international cricket while taking 105 T20 wickets. Whereas Faisal is a young talent with some variation under his belt through his left-arm spin.
