At last International cricket council has finalized the proceedings for ICC T20 World Cup 2021. ICC Word T20 was initially planned to take place in India but due to Covid-19 cases in India, ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will now jointly take place in Oman & United Arab Emirates with hosting rights to remain with BCCI.
2020 edition of T20 world cup which was already postponed and Australia will now host their edition of T20 World cup later on.
ICC T20 World Cup Format
T20 World Cup 2021 will take place in two phases. Initially eight teams divided in two groups will play Qualifiers and top two teams of each group (A1, A2 B1, and B2) will join top 8 teams in super 12.
Top 8 teams in ICC T20 rankings are already divided into two groups based on their rankings on the cut off date of 20 March 2021

Super 12 groups are also divided in two groups to play super 12 part of the competition.

Defnding champion West Indies is featuring in the group 1 with one England who won 2010 edition of the ICC T20 World cup. Australia and South Africa are the two other top tier teams in group 1.

ICC World T20 2021 -Group 2
Arch rivals India and Pakistan who only face each other in ICC events will be present in Group 2 and both will face each other at least once during 2021 T20 World Cup. New Zelaand and Afghanistan are the other two top tier teams in group 2.
Super 12 Group 2: Â India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, B1 (winner of Group B) & A2 Runner-up of Group A).
