Finally Australia will host next T20 world Cup. I am writing finally because Australia was scheduled to host 2020 edition of mega event but due to Covid it got postponed. Now with ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Schedule already out all teams are now set to play WT20 down under.
Australia is also the defending champion of World T20 event whereas New Zealand is the only top tier side to have their name on the list of winners of this global event so far.
ICC T20 World Cup Format 2022
As per the ICC World T20 format, tournament will take place in two phases. Initially eight teams divided in two groups will play Qualifiers and top two teams of each group (A1, A2 B1, and B2) will join top 8 teams in Super 12.
Top 8 teams in ICC T20 rankings who are already qualified and divided into two groups based on their rankings on the cut off date set by ICC. Super 12 groups are also divided in two groups to play super 12 part of the competition.

Defending champion Australia and runner up of last edition New Zealand are placed in group 1 along with England and Afghanistan, two teams from qualifiers will join the sides in group 1.

Arch rivals India and Pakistan have been placed in group 2 with another sub-continental team Bangladesh and South Africa. Like group 1 two qualifying team will join this group.

Schedule of ICC T20 World Cup 2022 edition is already revealed. T20 World Cup cricket schedule is finalized and as per ICC World T20 time table tournament will take place between 16 October to 17 November 2022. T20 World Cup duration is 31 days but cricket action will take place only on 29 days
