Analysis of West Indies T20 World Cup Squad 2022
West Indian Batters
Kyle Mayers, Evin Lewis and Johnson Charles are the opening options for West Indies. Mayers and Charles is the regular opening pair. Mayers is often threatening at the top but he fails to convert it into big innings. Charles also has not played much T20I cricket this year and same is the case of Evin Lewis.
Brandon King and Shamarh Brooks form the middle order. Both have scored good runs in T20Is this year. Rovman Powell, Skipper Nicholas Pooran and RaymonReifer are also featuring in the middle order of West Indies. Pooran has been in fine form and he does the finishing role well too, while Raymon Reifer is yet to play a notable innings.
West Indian Bowlers
Pace quartet of Odean Smith, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy and Jason Holder comprising a fine bowling attack. Odean is slippery at times, but on their day this pace attack can trouble any lineup and they have done it before this year in T20Is as well. Sheldon Cottrell is backup choice in this pace attack.
West Indies’ spin attack is in good rhythm too. Akeal Hosein has been consistent with the wickets, while YanicCariah has also looked promising at the start of his career and he has been preferred over Hayden Walsh Jnr who was the regular feature of West Indies T20I side this year.
