England Players in Chennai Super Kings

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings have got only one English player in their squad. In the IPL 2023, Moeen had a below average season. He was able to score only 124 runs and averaged just 17 with the bat. However, he remained effective with the ball taking 9 wickets in 15 matches averaging 21 with the ball. Moeen played 3 games of the 5 match T20I series between England and West Indies, where he remained economical with the ball.

England Players in Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings have the most number of English Players for the 2024 edition of IPL. Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran are the 4 English players in this squad. Woakes was picked for 4.2 Crores in the auction while the other 3 were retained by Punjab Kings. Jonny Bairstow did not play in the IPL 2023 due to an injury, however he was still retained. Bairstow was decent in the World Cup 2023 where he got good starts but could not convert them into big knocks.

Liam Livingstone played 9 games in IPL 2023 scoring 279 runs with an average of 34 and strike rate of 163. Livingstone showed good form with the bat in the recent England vs West Indies series. Chris Woakes also has been in good bowling rhythm as he has remained economical and consistent. With a batting average of 21 and with 162 T20 wickets, Woakes remains a valuable player to have.

Sam Curran took 10 wickets in IPL 2023 at an average of 48. While he was one of the most expensive picks, he did disappoint the PBKS fans with the ball. He did score 276 runs with the bat and hence was retained by the PBKS. Sam Curran had a disappointing World Cup too, but PBKS still hopes that he finds rhythm ahead of the IPL.

England Players in Rajasthan Royals

World T20 winning captain Jos Buttler, and his fellow country-mate, Tom Kohler Cadmore are a part of Rajasthan Royals. Buttler has been with the Royals since a long time now. Buttler was the 2nd highest run getter for the Royals last year with 392 runs under his belt. However, Buttler is going through the worst phase of his cricketing career right now. England had the worst 2023 WC campaign, and later on they lost an ODI and T20I series against West Indies under Jos Buttler’s captaincy. Buttler’s own performances have also been declining and it is a concerning sign for the Royals.

TK Cadmore on the other hand was bought for 40 lacs by the Royals. Interestingly, Tom Kohler Cadmore has played BPL, PSL, T10 and LPL but has never featured in the IPL. Cadmore was seen smacking the ball a mile in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. With over 4000 T20 runs to his name, he is a reliable batter with good striking ability.

England Players in Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Royal Challengers of Bangalore opted for 3 Englishmen in their unit. They picked Tom Curran for 1.5 crores in the auction, while they retained Will Jacks and Reece Topley. RCB also had David Willey last year in the IPL, but they did not retained him this time. Reece Topley created a great impact in the World Cup. Although he got ruled out due to an injury but he did show what he is capable of. He picked 8 wickets in the 3 games that he played in the World Cup. He played 3 T20Is against West Indies and picked up 6 wickets.

Tom Curran is a decent all-rounder. He played couple of good knocks in the Hundred. Currently he is in action during the BBL where he has done well with the ball. Will Jacks was retained by the RCB but no one was sure why. He did not get a game last year and he hasn’t got much good performances to back him lately.

England Players in Kolkata Knight Riders

Jason Roy was retained by Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2024. Roy Scored 285 runs in 8 matches of the IPL 2023 at an average of 35 with 150+ strike rate. Roy’s hard-hitting at the top is just what any team needs. Roy was recently seen in the Abu Dhabi T10 League where apart from one good knock of 84*, he struggled for form.

England Players in Delhi Capitals

Harry Brook is a prominent name in the IPL. During IPL 2023, he got a whopping contract of 13.25 Crores by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, however, for IPL 2024 Sunrisers released him. He was then picked by Delhi Capitals for 4 Crores. The hype for Brook was real in IPL 2023, but he failed miserably. Despite scoring a century in the event, he only ended with 190 runs in 11 matches. Brook had good scores in the ODI series against West Indies, however, he struggled for form in the T20Is against the Caribbean side.

England Players in Lucknow Super Giants

Mark Wood and David Willey, the two pace bowling handy all-rounders are a part of LSG for the Indian Premier League 2024. Wood was retained by LSG while Willey was opted for in the auction for 2 crores. Willey played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023 and picked 3 wickets in 4 games averaging 35 with the ball. Willey was decent with the ball in the ODI World Cup picking up 9 wickets in 6 matches. After the World Cup, he has not played any cricket.

Mark Wood played only 4 games of the IPL 2023, but he took 11 wickets in that. His express pace becomes too hot to handle for the batters. Wood seemed out of touch with the ball during the World Cup as he managed only 6 wickets in 7 matches. He has also not played any cricket after the World Cup.
