England Players in Chennai Super Kings
Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes are the two England players who will be in action for Chennai Super Kings. Stokes grabbed a whopping 16.25 Crore (INR) deal in the IPL Auction 2023. Moeen Ali was retained by the franchise.
Ben Stokes played an instrumental role for England in winning World T20 2022. His capabilities are tremendous in the shortest format of the game. Stokes has previously played for the Rajasthan Royals and Rising Pune Super Giants in the IPL.
Moeen Ali scored 244 runs in IPL 2022 at an average of 24 and strike rate of 137. Moeen also picked 8 wickets at a bowling average of 19 and it was due to his good all-round performances that he was retained in the team.
England Players in Punjab Kings
Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone will be the two Englishmen in Punjab Kings. Curran was the most expensive player of the IPL Auction as he bagged 18.5 Crores (INR). Curran was the Man of the Tournament as well as Man of the Match in the final of ICC World T20 2022. He is a phenomenal all-rounder to have in your T20 Side. Livingstone was retained by Punjab Kings after scoring 437 runs last season at an average of 34 and strike rate of 182.
England Players in Rajasthan Royals
Joe Root and the current English skipper Jos Buttler will be in action for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023. Jos Buttler is now a World T20 winning captain. He has been in some crazy form in 2023, especially in the ODI series against South Africa. Buttler was retained by the Royals. In 2022 IPL, he scored a massive tally of 863 runs at an average of 57 and strike rate of 149.
Joe Root was picked at a price of 1 Crore (INR) in the auction. Interestingly, this will be the first ever instance, when Joe Root will feature in the IPL. Root minted a lot of runs in the Test Series against New Zealand. He is in great form and has a lot of runs under his belt in the T20I format too.
England Players in Sunrisers Hyderabad
Harry Brook and Adil Rashid will be in action for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023. Both the players were picked in the auction.
Brook was grabbed for a whopping amount of 13.25 Crore (INR) while Rashid went for 2 Crore (INR). Brook has over 2000 runs in T20 cricket and he is extremely consistent in the shortest format of the game. Rashid with his leg spin, is very useful in T20 format. Rashid has 291 wickets in T20 cricket, and he has also featured for Punjab Kings previously in IPL.
England Players in Royal Challengers Bangalore
Reece Topley and David Willey, the two left arm bowlers will be in RCB for IPL 2023. 1.9 Crore (INR) was the price of Reece Topley for which RCB bought him in the auction, while Willey was retained.
Willey played 4 games and was able to pick only 1 wicket in IPL 2022. He scored just 18 runs last season with the bat. Topley on the other hand has 178 wickets in T20 cricket. He was brilliant in the 3 games of SA20 league that he played. He has the natural ability to swing the new ball.
England Players in Mumbai Indians
Jofra Archer will be the only English player in Mumbai Indians. Archer was injured for a long time, yet Mumbai decided to retain him. At an average of 22 and economy rate of 7.6, Archer has 167 wickets in T20 cricket. On England’s tour of Bangladesh this year, Archer showed great accuracy and took wickets too. He took 4 wickets in 3 games in the T20Is. In the 2 ODIs against Bangladesh, he picked up 5 wickets.
England Players in Delhi Capitals
English Wicket-Keeper batter Phil Salt was picked in the Auction by Delhi Capitals for 2 Crore (INR). This will be Salt’s debut in IPL. With over 4000 runs, Salt is known for utilizing PowerPlay overs. He averages 25 in T20 cricket with a strike rate of 149. He was also in good rhythm on England’s tour of Bangladesh, where he got good starts but couldn’t convert those into big knocks.
England Players in Lucknow Super Giants
Due to an elbow injury, Mark Wood did not play for the LSG last year in IPL, yet he was retained. In T20s Wood has 65 wickets in 49 games at an average of just 21. He is fast, and deadly dangerous with his pace. He had figures of 2/34, 0/14 and 1/24 in the 3 match T20I series against Bangladesh in 2023.
