The Afghan Players played brilliantly in Indian conditions and as usual, they are always in high demand in these conditions. IPL 2024 will see 8 Afghan Cricketers playing for 5 different teams. Following are their details.

Afghanistan Players in Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders have two Afghan Players for IPL 2024. They retained hard-hitting wicket-keeping batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz. In 11 games of IPL 2023, Gurbaz managed only 227 runs averaging 20 with a strike rate of 145. However, Gurbaz recently showed how great of a batter he is in the World Cup where he played multiple good knocks. Gurbaz scored 280 runs in the world cup with an impressive strike rate of 98 and averaged 30+. He knows how to utilize PowerPlay conditions.

The second Afghan Player in the side is Mujeeb-ur-Rahman. Mujeeb was bought in the auction for 2 Crores. With close to 250 wickets in his T20 career, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman is preferred by teams for his brilliant accuracy.

Afghanistan Players in Gujarat Titans

The Gujarat Titans have the most number of Afghan Players for IPL 2024. Rashid Khan, Azmatullah Omarzai and Noor Ahmad will play for the Titans this year. Rashid took 27 wickets for the Titans last year and finished as the 3rd best bowler of the event. He took 11 wickets in 9 matches and averaged 21 with the bat in the World Cup campaign for Afghanistan. However, after the World Cup he has been out of action due to injury. It is expected that he will be fit before the IPL 2024.

Noor Ahmad was also retained by the Titans. He took 16 wickets in 13 matches and was impressive with his variety. The young spinner last played in the Abu Dhabi T10 league where he was very impressive with the ball.

Azmatullah Omarzai was picked in the Auction for 50 Lacs. This will be the first time Omarzai will be seen in the IPL. Omarzai scored 353 runs averaging 70 with the bat in the World Cup for Afghanistan. He also took 7 wickets. His impressive performances in the World Cup earned him an IPL contract.

Afghanistan Players in Sunrisers Hyderabad

Fazalhaq Farooqi was retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2024. He played 4 games of IPL 2023, and took 4 wickets. During the World Cup, he took 6 wickets in 6 games. He is someone who utilizes the new ball swing for his side. He has 62 wickets in 56 T20 matches of his career.

Afghanistan Players in Lucknow Super Giants

Naveen-ul-Haq will be the Afghan Star of Lucknow Super Giants. He was retained by the Super Giants. He took 11 wickets in 8 games of IPL 2023. He made more headlines for his quarrel with Virat Kohli druing LSG vs RCB. Naveen picked 8 wickets in 8 world cup matches before bidding farewell to the ODI format recently.

Mumbai Indians Afghan Players

Mohammad Nabi, the senior most Afghan Player was picked by Mumbai Indians for 1.5 Crores in the auction. Nabi flopped miserably with the bat in the World Cup while he took 8 wickets in 9 games with the ball. He is a decent choice with all the experience he possesses. Although he is no longer in his peak form, he can still be lethal on turning tracks. Mumbai Indians will be the third IPL franchise of Mohammad Nabi. He has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and KKR in the past.
