After thrilling qualification. fluctuating fortunes in Super 12 and astonishing results in semi finals we are now down to the Final of ICC World T20 2022 where Pakistan and England will be the two sides vying ii out to be the new champion of ICC Wt20.
Match Preview – Pakistan vs England
Pakistan beat New Zealand in final over of the first semi final but they were in control of the things throughout. However England sent a strong message of their T20 exploits when they hammered India by 10 wickets during second semi final.
Both teams are equally balanced and have played good amount of cricket lately to understand the strength and weaknesses of each other.
Despite the one blemish when lost to Ireland, England have a pretty smooth ride till finals. There were few if’s and but’s but they qualified for top two and then stormed into the final. Although England batted India out of the tournament but it was their bowling who contained the strong Indian batting line up until Hardik Pandya explode at the end.
On the other hand Pakistan gained the momentum when they were almost out of the semi final race. Loss to India in opening game and than an upset defeat by the hands of Zimbabwe dent their chances. Since than it was just an upward curve on their performance and their senior players returned to form at the right time.

England
England batting hadn’t clicked at the start of the tournament. Buttler and Hales shown some signs of batting form in last few games but they came of age in semi final against India . Hales with three consecutive 50+ scores and whereas Buttler scored 80 not out, 73 and 28 in his three two outings. England will be hoping that their injury scares settled down and Dawid Malan and Mark Wood will be available for finals.
Phil Salt didn’t get a chance to bat in semi final but Chris Jordan had a good return as a replacement of above two. Sam Curran and Chris Woakes shared the responsibility to lead the attack well in semi finalas Chris Jordan will be short of match practice for this all important game. Adil Rashid looks like a missing cog in Engalnd’s T20 team and has been in great containing form this year.

Pakistan will maintain the wining combination and no changes expected unless a last minute injury to anyone. Induction of explosive batter Mohammad Haris in middle order has provided a new dimension to Pakistan batting. Whereas Babar and Rizwan had a good hit out in semi final against New Zealand where they put on more than 100 runs opening stand. Likes of Iftikhar, Shadab and Shan took Pakistan home several times in this year’s event and are now dependable in shorter format.
Pakistan pace bowling got a much needed boost as Shaheen picked up four wickets against Bangladesh and backed it with another couple against New Zealand. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah have taken their responsibilities well with Mohammad Waseem Jnr is instrumental in death overs. Shadab Khan is the second highest wicket taker in super 12 phase with his controlled leg spin. Overall a complete unit with ability to stun opposition on their day.
