Shahid Afridi Named New Chief Selector of Pakistan Team:

The Management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board named an independent 3-Member selection committee for the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team. The interim selection committee will be headed by former Pakistan Captain, Shahid Afridi.

Apart from Shahid, the committee will also have ex all-rounder Abdul Razzaq and ex pace bowler Rao Iftikhar Anjum. Haroon Rashid will be the convener of this committee. Haroon Rashid is currently a member of PCB’s new management committee.

All 3 cricketers who are a part of the selection committee have rendered great services for Pakistan in their playing days. The recent regime change in the PCB resulted in their appointment. Earlier, Chief Selector Muhammad Wasim was sacked along with all the selection committee that consisted of 6 coaches of the cricketing associations of Domestic Cricket.

Najam Sethi, the new chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board welcomed the new selection committee and believed that this new committee will make brave and bold decisions while selecting a squad. Their fast task will be the limited overs series against New Zealand. The ODI series against New Zealand begins from 9th January 2022. The PCB Chairman also said that they have decided not to make any changes in the already announced Test Squad of Pakistan which was announced recently by Ex Chief Selector Muhammad Wasim.
