Farooqi recently impressed the management of Thunders in last month’s T20WC with his mind-blowing performance and succeeded to sign a professional contract with them and he is among many Afghan players selected to play BBL 2022.
The mentioned bowler was quite impressive in his debut under Sydney Thunders and played an inning of 2-20 with overall 5 wickets in the last 4 BBL matches before the placed complaint. Left Arm Fast-Med bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi has established his BBL career with the best 3-20 alongside of 5.81 economy rate before this unfortunate event.
22 year old fast bowler was involved in some suspicious activities and got addressed in the investigation after Thunders faced the Lowest scoring defeat in T20 men’s history. They got bowled after scoring mere 15 runs.
The complaint was signed on 15th December and was further charged to Australian Cricket for detailed investigation. According to Sydney Thunders, Farooqi’s behavior was sitting outside of their values which became the biggest reason for this cancelation.
Lee Germon, CEO of cricket NSW has given a statement where he exclaimed, “The behaviors displayed by Fazalhaq Farooqi sit outside of our values and it was determined that his contract be terminated.” He also added, “Our focus now is providing the necessary support to those affected by this incident.”
The board hasn’t revealed any proper reason for the investigation plus no one knows, who will be the replacement for Fazalhaq Farooqi.
