India vs Bangladesh Match Preview | World Cup 2023

India vs Bangladesh

The 17th Match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be played between the hosts India, and Bangladesh. India is undefeated in the tournament with 3/3 wins, while Bangladesh has won only 1 out of their 3 games. The Match is at Pune. Following is the preview of India vs Bangladesh in the ICC World Cup 2023.

India vs Bangladesh Today Match Preview

Pune has not hosted any game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. However, traditionally, the track supports the batters more. Meanwhile, we have also seen that pitches have behaved differently in this world cup because every track was made fresh. So it is difficult to predict what we can expect from the pitch, but going by the past records, it will be a heaven for the batters.

India are high on confidence. They have defeated Australia, Pakistan and Afghanistan in the event before. Bangladesh started their tournament nicely with a big win over Afghanistan, but afterwards, they lost to England and New Zealand.

Bangladesh’s top order has been their major problem. If the top order gives them a good start, then later on they have the experience in the middle-order to capitalize.

Meanwhile India has a perfectly functioning batting line. They are yet to be tested in defending a total. With Pune being a batting heaven, Bangladesh can opt to bowl first and test India’s defending skills in this game. India will begin this game as favorites.

Bangladesh have had trouble with their openers and top order on a whole. They can get back Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the opening role, and they can leave out Tanzid from Tanzim.

India vs Bangladesh Head to Head in ODI

Both teams have faced off 4 times in ODI World Cup history. Bangladesh have managed to win once while India has won the remaining 3 games. Overall in ODI cricket history, both sides have squared off 40 times, with India winning 31 and Bangladesh winning 8. Meanwhile, the last time these two teams met, was in the Asia Cup 2023 where Bangladesh defeated India.

Players to Watch Out For

Bangladesh’s biggest strength is their captain Shakib-al-Hasan. However, this strength becomes their weakness as well when they over rely on him. Shakib has done well with both bat and ball, but because of lack of support from other players, Bangladesh are still unable to manage a win. Mushfiqur Rahim averages 40+ in his last 7 ODIs and he is someone to be watchful of.

Moreover, Shoriful Islam will be tested in this game. He has been really impressive for Bangladesh with 13 wickets in last 7 games, but it will be interesting to see how he does against the impressive batting line of India.

It is hard to pick one player of India. All of them have been amazing with the bat and ball. Bangladesh must be watchful of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Both are in sublime form. If these two utilize the PowerPlay well, it would be curtains already for Bangladesh. With the ball, Bumrah-Siraj-Pandya are quite dangerous. Bumrah and Siraj are someone that one comes prepared for but Pandya at times comes out of syllabus and picks some important wickets.
