The Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket Team Russell Domingo has quit his position. Domingo was with the Bangladesh Team since 2019. He returned home to South Africa for Christmas Break but later it was learnt that the BCB have moved on from Russell.

The decision was made two days after Bangladesh’s defeat against India in the home Test Series 2-0. Domingo was with the side since 2019. Bangladesh defeated Australia and New Zealand in a T20I series at home under his coaching recently, however, their T20 World Cup campaign was disastrous.

Sources claim that BCB was not happy with Domingo at all. They wanted a more aggressive coach. A BCB Board Official stated that, “We were looking for an influential coach. We needed a coach who can be a mentor too and motivate the players.” This statement clearly indicated that things were not right between the BCB and Domingo, and they did not like the way we coached, however, Domingo did enjoy a great success as Head Coach as Bangladesh won an ODI series in South Africa and recently they defeated India in the ODI series too.

Bangladesh’s next series is against England when England will tour them in March 2023. It will be interesting to see who will replace the Russell Domingo as the new Head Coach of the Tigers.
