Pant, Dhawan Axed | India Announce Squad for Sri Lanka Series
The Indian Selectors announced the ODI squad of India for the series against Sri Lanka today. Shikhar Dhawan, who was struggling for runs has been axed from this squad. India have persisted with Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan.
There is a good blend of youngsters and experienced players in this side. Hardik Pandya will be seen leading the T20I side, while Rohit Sharma will lead team India in the ODI series. Uncapped players, Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar were chosen for the T20I Series.
Interestingly, Hardik Pandya has become the Vice-Captain of India in ODIs, earlier KL Rahul used to be in the same capacity. This indicates that Hardik Pandya is next in line to become the Indian Captain.
Moreover, India also axed Rishabh Pant from the both white-ball formats. Sanju Samson has been picked to keep wickets in T20I part of the series whereas Ishan Kishan or KL Rahul will fulfil the duties behind the wickets in
