Cameron Green gets a five wicket Haul

It was an entertaining day at MCG as Cameron Green booked a Five wicket Haul to Stumble South Africa 189 On the first day of the Boxing Test match. Green who was sold in $3.15 Million in an IPL contract this week records his career best figure 5 – 27 destroying the opponent’s tail.

Australia won the toss and decided to bowl against South Africa. The weather was quite sunny and both openers Dean Elgar and Sarel Erwee came to open the innings. Australian pace attack disturbed them with their quality bowling and Scott Bolland provided an early breakthrough after dismissing Sarel Erwee who made 18 of (31) and was caught in slip by Usman Khawaja.

After gathering a few runs on the board, Cameron Green bowled a short pitch delivery to Theunis de Bruyn. He opted to pull that delivery but got a top edge and ultimately caught by the keeper Alex Carey.

Australia keeps striking on South Africa’s batting lineup with stunning fielding performance. Dean Elgar wants to sneak a single but Marnus Labuschagne throws at the nonstriker end and got a direct hit that sends Elgar back to the pavilion. He made 26 runs from (68) Balls and becomes the 8th south African batter to score 5000 runs in Test cricket.

Temba Bavuma also couldn’t resist much and nicked the delivery of Mitchel Starc to Alex Carey. Khaya Zondo played an uppish cover drive to Starc but Marnus Labuschagne with a full-length dive takes an unbelievable catch at the cover. 

When South Africa was 5 down for 67 runs Marco Jansen and Kyle Verrynne hold the innings command and fight against the Australian bowling attack. Two catches of Jansen were dropped and Mitchel Starc also injured his finger while attempting a difficult catch on the boundary. 

Both the batters scored half-centuries and compile 112 (219) runs partnership for his team. Varrynne made 52 (99) with 3 fours but then Cameron Green started to destroy the proteas tail batters with his outstanding bowling. Green dismisses Varrynne on 52 with an outside edge in the slip caught by Steve Smith. Jansen also got out on 59 (136) with 10 fours in the same fashion as Bavuma got out. He nicked the delivery of Green to Alex Carey. 

In the quick span of time remaining three wickets of proteas also fell down in which Nathan Lyon removes Keshav Maharaj and remaining both wickets were in the name of Camron Green Completing his 5 wicket haul with career best figures 5 -27. South Africa puts 189 runs on the board in 68.4 overs. 

Australia started their innings confidently with David Warner and Usman Khawaja but Kagiso Rabada gives an early breakthrough in the form of Khawaja’s wicket. At the end of the day’s play, Australia is 45-1 with David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne on the crease. Australia is very confident as they are in a good position in this Test match and hoping to get a good lead.
