Bangladesh Needs Shakib Al Hasan In Test Cricket


When it seems that Bangladesh is finding the right balance with a blend of youth and experience in their team especially at home soil where they have had a test victories against teams like Australia and England, one of their premiere player and world’s # 1 ranked all rounder Shakib Al Hasan opts to take 6 month break from test match cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan veteran for 51 test matches from Bangladesh is by far the highest wicket taker of Bangladesh with 188 test wickets to his name and on the second spot with 3594 test runs in all time top run getter from Bangladesh just behind Tamim Iqbal.

Former captain had brought a wealth of experience and have been treated as a great support for youngster in Bangladeshi side. His absence from test line up will hurt Bangladesh’s development in cricket field as well as it will adversely affect the grooming of younger lot who can be benefited in  learning the tricks and trade of cricket under seniors like him, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal.

With too many domestic T20 cricket leagues going global now a days and all try to sign international quality players, this is now taking toll on the players. Frequent travelling, performance expectations and pressure moments are now adversely affecting players both physically and mentally. Which results in  shortening cricket careers of great players. As we have recently seen AB De Villiers falling to the pressure of global leagues.
