Just 3 days before vitality blast 2019 season gets underway Glamorgan signs Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman for first 8 games of the campaign.
Injury to Australian Shaun Marsh played vital role in Fakhar Zaman signing for Glamorgan. Shaun Marsh fractured his arm during net session in recently concluded World Cup 2019.
Strangely despite of Fakhar Zaman explosive batting style this will be Fakhar’s first stint for any overseas leagues since making his debut for Pakistan in 2017.
Fakhar rose to fame in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 when he scored match winning century against India in all important final and also won the man of the match award for his brilliant batting display against the arch rivals.
So far Fakhar has represented Pakistan in 30 T20I and scored 748 runs at a strike rate of 138 runs per 100 balls at international level.
Fakhar Zaman was not able to repeat his heroics in World Cup 2019 with the bat as he only scored 186 runs with just half century to his credit; but because of Fakhar batting potential Glamorgan pens deal with him to increase their success chances.
In past Pakistani legends like Majid Khan (1968-76), Javed Miandad (1980-85) and Waqar Younis (1997-98) had also played for Glamorgan with great success during different periods.
