Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

Just before the final both teams met in a dress rehearsal for final in last match of the super 04 phase stage. The match was not more than a practice as both teams already progressed to final well before this match.

However Sri Lanka won this match but final and the pressure is totally different. Pakistan have rested their key players Nasim Shah and Shadab Khan but their full strength batting skittle to Sri Lanka’s spin attack.

On the other hand Sri Lanka also had nervy start when Pakistan fast bowlers rattled their top order but Pathum Nissanka hold the anchor and steered Sri Lanka to victory. With both teams having their full strength side its will be a game to watch as both Pakistan and Sri Lanka won many of their matches during final 20th over in this Asia Cup.

Strengths and Weakness

Babar Azam slumpin form during the Asia Cup had hurt Pakistan top order performance and Fakhar Zaman also failed to fire in this Asia Cup so far. Rizwan has been the main stay of Pakistan batting and recently became the number 1 T20I batter in ICC rankings.

All-rounders duo of Nawaz and Shadab will be key to lower middle order and can make amends to slow batting at top order by their explosive hitting at end. Nasim Shah and Haris Rauf has led the fast bowling well so far during absence of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Waseem Junior who got injured before the tournament begins.

Overall a well balanced T20 side but needs to make the best use of batting power play upfront to release the pressure from the other batters,

PAKISTAN: 1 Babar Azam (capt), 2 Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 3 Fakhar Zaman, 4 Iftikhar Ahmed, 5 Khushdil Shah, 6 Shadab Khan, 7 Asif Ali, 8 Mohammad Nawaz, 9 Naseem Shah, 10 Haris Rauf, 11 Mohammad Hasnain

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s batting unit has been led by Pathum Nissanka who has been in great form throughout the tournament so far. Bhanuka Rajapaksa also in some serious hitting form and providing much needed impetus in the middle order with his lusty blows. Captain Dasun Shanaka alos making some important contributions with the bat in lower middle order.

Sri Lankan bowlers have shown mix performance but Hasaranga and Theekshana have bowled well. Hasaranga find some form in last match against Pakistan when Pakistan batters failed to read his googly’s. Pakistan can target Sri Lanka’s fifth bowling option so Sri Lanka needs to come better prepared for it.

SRI LANKA: 1 Kusal Mendis (wk), 2 Pathum Nissanka, 3 Dhananjaya de Silva, 4 Danushka Gunathilaka, 5 Dasun Shanaka (capt), 6 Bhanuka Rajapaksa, 7 Chamika Karunaratne, 8 Wanindu Hasaranga, 9 Maheesh Theekshana, 10 Pramod Madushan, 11 Dilshan Madushanka
